Community Service

The Center for Community Health is committed to promoting best health practices at the community level. We have funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of Agriculture, State of California, San Diego County and foundations to support health promotion work related to access to care, preventing and addressing child obesity at the community level, improving nutrition, improving oral health, and improving early detection of developmental delay. As multi-disciplinary and community-based work is essential to successful programs, we proudly partner with over 100 organizations to implement projects to meet the varying needs of the communities we serve.

Michelle Zive, Principal Investigator of UCSD’s Healthy Works program, discusses an initiative that focuses on obesity prevention through policy systems and environment change. She discusses community health, nutrition, and the division’s commitment to service and positive change.
