Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools

Training program for Hispanic graduate students to provide mentored research experiences in HIV/AIDS in the San Diego-Tijuana US-Mexico Border region. The intended impact is to prepare the next generation of researchers to provide health care for and conduct research with Latino populations, especially those living in a US-Mexico border context. The HSHPS training program was instituted at UCSD beginning in 2007, and is currently in its fifth year. Fellows commit to a 6 month training program, and are paired with a UCSD mentor with whom they will plan a research project. This program allows fellows to have interactions with Mexican Fellows, academicians, and health professionals.
